How lucky are we to not have to worry about drinking water every single day. Although with the current scenario of rivers and dams running dry even the human race has to worry about  access to water the next day.

Keeping this in mind, we need to also realise that the birds in the sky and the bees that pollinate fruits and vegetables for us to live through each day with adequate food are perishing and in despair, having no or minimal sources of water.
Here are 3 easy tips for you to save our flying fauna without much hassle:

1.    For Birds:

Place a simple shallow earthen bowl, shallow so the tiny birds don’t drown, in your balcony or garden with fresh water for the birds to drink and bathe in. Go with me on this, the sight of beautiful birds quenching their thirst and bathing in the water will satisfy your soul.

2.    For Bees:

Again, a very shallow earthen or ceramic plate with some sugar water will attract bees to the bowl and provide them with all the energy they need for the day to help them pollinate our flowers and crops. P.S: 80% of our food is pollinated by bees, so we sort of need them to live a good long life.

3. For Butterflies:

Who wouldn’t absolutely adore the sight of pretty little butterflies flying around them? Place a similar bowl like that for the bees at your balcony or garden, just make sure that the bowl is colorful or is surrounded with colorful flowers.

4. Other tips:

- Ensure that the bowl is kept in shade and at low altitude.

- For a bird bath, let the water only be about 2-3 inches deep so tiny birds can enjoy themselves.

- Try placing a dripper near the water to keep the water moving, this attracts birds to the water bowl.

These little gestures of kindness take no more than 2 minutes a day and could be done as a fun activity with your kids; teaching them to be more compassionate towards all beings and making you feel amazing as well.
