Vegan Outreach India's 10 Weeks to Vegan India program crossed 100,000 subscribers. 10 Weeks to Vegan is a guided email series from Vegan Outreach containing tips, recipes, and resources for those interested in learning more about animal-free eating.

In 2019, Vegan Outreach launched the 10 Weeks to Vegan program in India. This guided email series helps people sustainably transition to a vegan lifestyle by sending one email every week for ten weeks. In 2021, 55,000 people signed up for the program to go vegan.

It’s assumed that going vegan is very difficult, and once you become vegan, you have to compromise your favorite foods. Because of this misconception, many of us hesitate to try a vegan diet. The 10 Weeks to Vegan email series provides holistic support to new vegans. One of the 10 Weeks to Vegan India subscribers, Praneetha Nagelli, from Hyderabad, talks about how the 10 Weeks to Vegan program has helped her. The program not only helped with the easy transition towards a compassionate lifestyle but also helped her communicate with her family and friends.

"The 10 Weeks to Vegan program helped me realize that I can become vegan without sacrificing my taste. They provided me with recipes for vegan ice creams and pizza. Also, they provided me with the necessary information to be able to talk to my friends and family about my lifestyle choice." -Praneetha Nagelli, Hyderabad (10 Weeks to Vegan subscriber)

At present, the 10 Weeks to Vegan India program has two email series. The vegetarian series helps vegetarian people to reduce their dairy product consumption and transition towards a vegan diet. The non-vegetarian series helps non-vegetarians go vegan by providing resources, information about recipes, and meat alternatives.

"The 10 Weeks to Vegan email series is different for people transitioning from vegetarian to vegan or non-vegetarian to vegan, as they provide relevant recipes and other information. Recently we have launched our email series in the Hindi language since in India we have a large section of a Hindi speaking population." -Richa Mehta, Director of Programs, Vegan Outreach India.

People are drawn to veganism for various reasons. A plant-based diet has a low environmental footprint. It doesn't contribute to animal exploitation and improves health. Today's youth are very conscious of environmental degradation, health, and cruelty to farm animals. Given a choice, they want to live a more compassionate lifestyle.

"Today, going vegan is easier than ever. With many plant-based alternatives in the market, one does not need to compromise on taste or nutrition to adopt a compassionate lifestyle. Also, programs like 10 Weeks to Vegan help make a sustainable transition by providing recipes, nutritional information, and lifestyle tips like communicating with your friends and family. This increase in awareness, information, and alternatives has led to many people moving towards veganism."-Jaydeepsinh Jhala, Senior Outreach Coordinator, Vegan Outreach

Primarily, Vegan Outreach India does outreach through their Adopt A College program, wherein they conduct online webinars in colleges to create awareness about the impacts of our diets on animals, the environment, and health. In 2021, they conducted more than 130 webinars at 300+ colleges and got more than 40,000 students to join the 10 Weeks to Vegan program.
