2020 Golden Globes Serves All-Vegan Menu

The Golden Globes is serving an entirely plant-based menu this year as the awards show attempts to get more climate conscious. According to the website,“For the first time the meal served to our guests will be entirely plant-based – a way to focus awareness on the need to countenance sustainable lifestyles as our world moves towards climate and environmental insecurity. Without sacrificing quality of life.”

The menu sounds delicious: the appetizer during the gala’s pre-show dinner will be a chilled golden beet soup, while the entree will include king oyster mushroom “scallops” and wild mushroom risotto, with roasted baby purple and green Brussels sprouts and carrots on the side. The dessert will be a “vegan opera dome.”

Speaking to the AP, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Lorenzo Soria said the change was an attempt to raise awareness. “If there’s a way we can, not change the world, but save the planet, maybe we can get the Golden Globes to send a signal and draw attention to the issue about climate change. The food we eat, the way we grow the food we eat, the way we dispose of the food is one of the large contributors to the climate crisis.”

As we all know, one of the leading causes of climate change and environmental degradation is animal agriculture.
