Bangalore, the verdant Garden City,  has an equally vibrant vegan dining scene! And why wouldn’t it? Bengaluru is cosmopolitan, progressive and a melting pot of cultures – so we’re not surprised that veganism has caught on quickly. Here’s our curated list of pure vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants in the city.  

Carrots, Koramangala

Carrots is easily the most well-known vegan restaurant in Bangalore. Their extensive menu has something for everyone, from the vegan-curious to fitness fanatics looking for a detox. They even have a raw food section! Try their Muscle Relaxer juice with watermelon, orange and basil (Rs. 180) or dig into comfort food like Carrots Special Manchurian (Rs. 230) or Croquettes (Rs. 180). Carrots also gives back to the community with meals and discounts for local vegan activists.

House Of Seitan  

Located in Indiranagar, House Of Seitan serves a range of dishes using the mock meat seitan. They call themselves "a contemporary style urban bistro founded to offer you your favourite food with a healthy twist," and they deliver on the promise.  They've got salads, sourdough sandwiches, burgers, pita pockets (all of which can be customized to your liking), along with smoothies and juices. Try the avocado, apple and spirulina smoothie (Rs. 190) with the chickpea and flax seed salad (Rs. 185).

House Of Seitan

Just Be, Sadashivnagar

The founding principles of this 100% vegan restaurant are ‘Healthy, Natural, Vegan, Whole and Guilt-free’. Apart from being plant-based and dairy-free, Just Be is also chemical, preservative, refined flour and refined sugar-free. Produce is locally sourced, and nut milk, vegan cheeses and bread are made in-house. The menu is vast, with Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean and desi influences. Try the Smoky Squash Soup (Rs. 210) or Hotpress Vada sandwich (Rs. 310) made with amaranth and potatoes. Just Be also conducts cooking classes on-site.

Enerjuvate Studio & Café, Jayanagar & Koramangala

Enerjuvate serves a variety of innovative healthy plates and juices, including cashew-cheese Watermelon Delight salad (Rs. 225) and a Go Green juice with amla (Rs. 120). Other sumptuous plant-based dishes include their Orange Chilli Tofu (Rs. 275) and Veggie Zoodle Bowl (Rs. 250). Enerjuvate doubles up as a yoga and Pilates studio, so you can get fit while eating well!

Green Theory, Richmond Town

Green Theory is a vegetarian restaurant situated on quaint and calm Residency Road that provides plenty of vegan and organic options. The food they serve is very diverse, from Italian dishes to salads to healthy snacks and Asian food (their Thai curries are popular). We love the ambience: a beautiful bungalow with a small garden and a library! Try the Broccoli Almond Soup with almond milk (Rs. 250) and the Spicy Tofu Pizza (Rs. 350).

Vaathsalya Millet Café, JP Nagar

As the name suggests, millets are the mainstay of this cafe, which means every item on the menu is gluten-free – so yay for the health conscious and gluten-intolerant! They have all kinds of South Indian delicacies made with millets, from dosa and utthapa, to bonda, and bajji . Try their cutlets and khakras, or step in for the thali  (Rs. 250).

The Yogi-Sthaan Café, Indiranagar & Koramangala

Vegan-Friendly Yogi-sthaan cafe is both macrobiotic and vegan-friendly, and all their food is prepared and served based on Ayurvedic principles.  Their brown rice with tofu is a must-have. Apart from that, they provide several other dishes, from green leafy veggie salads and pasta to medicinal teas and smoothies. Try the I Am Working Out Body Toning Salad (Rs. 210) and the Quinoa Bhel (Rs. 200).

Luo Han, HSR Layout

Luo Han is a 100% vegetarian Chinese restaurant that serves a mix of Chinese and Thai cuisine, known for its old-school Chinese décor, with red panelling and paper lanterns. William Chang, the founder, turned vegetarian after a joining the Hong Ci Ashram and set up Luo Han in 2006. The noodles used are eggless, and the few non-vegan items like cottage cheese and honey can be easily substituted with vegan alternatives on request. Try their Golden Fried Sweet Corn (Rs. 160) and the Spicy Coconut Vegetable Noodle Soup (Rs. 95).

Crave By Leena, Koramangala

Crave is the only 100% vegan bakery in the city, located in the quaint leafy streets of Koramangala. The extensive menu includes 30+ varieties of vegan cakes, 30+ cupcakes, and 10+ desserts including cheesecakes, cinnamon rolls, donuts, brownies and cookies. They also cater to different dietary requirements: with a range of gluten-free, sugar-free, gluten & sugar-free and vegan keto options. Everything is made fresh so you may order a few hours in advance. Both dine-in and delivery available.
