Art nurtures understanding and fosters empathy. It is a medium to spread a message and the ability to bond with the idea. “Art is a medium through which I wanted to spread the message on animal cruelty,” says Manmohan Malani, who currently resides in Kolkata.

Manmohan is an activist who uses art to create awareness on animal rights and veganism. He has been a vegan for around two years now. He recently designed a calendar filled with various positive & thought-provoking illustrations on veganism and animal rights. The Veganning 2022 Calendar is an attempt to be helpful to anyone who is already a vegan or a transitioning vegan. It’s one of the best new year gifts for your friends, family, employees, or colleagues.

The best part is that 50% of the sales proceeds will go to animal welfare and vegan outreach campaigns via FIAPO (Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations). Manmohan sees this as an important step to help people understand veganism or how and why one should adopt a plant-based lifestyle for animals and save the planet.

HIS VEGAN JOURNEY

It all started two years ago when Manmohan was first introduced to the truth being the dairy industry. It all changed with just one sentence from his friend, ‘Not your mom, not your milk.’ “It shook me completely. Though I used to make fun, I was open to learning about veganism. It was the time when I wanted to explore and improve my personal life as well. Sooner or later, I was sure I was going to turn vegan.”

WHY THE PROJECT

“I have been working on this project for six months now. I always wanted to create a calendar, and there was nothing better than talking about animals and the truth behind the industry. As kids, we all are sensitive to animals. Directly or indirectly. Right from childhood, we are exposed to animal abuse but in a very subtle way. One example is the ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep.’

The Veganning 2022 Calendar created by Manmohan has hand-painted illustrations that subtly talk about animal cruelty. “I took enough time to curate every single illustration. I wanted to make sure the message was given the right way. Subtle enough for the kids to understand.”

THE VEGANNING 2022 CALENDAR

The calendar is now available for sale, and Manmohan has sold over 100 copies of the 2022 calendar. The calendar is available to buy until December 1st week. It costs Rs 370, including shipping, PAN India. “The main motivation behind this project is to contribute my share to FIAPO,” says Manmohan. You can buy the calendar here to support the cause.
