Leading actor Ranveer Singh is a proud Sindhi who recently hosted an AMA session on his social media. The session that took place on Instagram helped his fans learn a few secrets about the actor’s lifestyle. The actor answered some fun questions that his followers asked.

This encompassed everything from sports, to his current favourite show, favourite film and even whether or not he is a morning person or a night owl. He even discussed what he calls his wife Deepika Padukone, among other topics.

Diet and Food Preferences

While oodles of humor remained a staple in the actor’s answers, he touched upon what kind of diet he prefers. The 36-year-old Bollywood legend divulged that he is currently on a plant-based diet. He revealed that his favourite Sindhi food comprises a conventional "Sindhi curry with rice and boondi, and arbi tuk on the side."

Shortly after Padukone crashed his session and probed when he’d return home. Ranveer cheekily replied that he was on his way, and that he would eat at home.

The benefits of embracing a plant-based diet

A while ago, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India had tweeted about the benefits of eating a plant-based diet. Experts have proven this as a far more sustainable way of food consumption. As per the FSSAI, following a plant-based diet can help achieve the following goals for any individual.

  1. It shall lower the overall cholesterol levels
  2. There shall be a lesser risk of getting a stroke or becoming obese
  3. There is known to be a reduced risk of diabetes
  4. Greater high-fibre content in your meals
  5. You can enjoy a reduced carbon footprint

Reports suggest that Ruchi Sharma, a renowned nutritionist, and the founder of EAT.FIT.REPEAT had shared some pearls of wisdom on veganism. She explained that a vegan diet is a kind of lifestyle that attempts to exclude all forms of meat and products that are derived from animals, since the vegan society thinks all animals have the right to be free of human use, be it for food, clothes, or any other useful purposes”.

Furthermore, according to Sharma, veganism does not allow the consumption of any animal-derived product, be it “milk, honey, meat, eggs, whey, casein, or even products like leather, silk, beeswax, latex, soaps, etc., that involve the use of animals”.

Isn’t this a kinder, more conscientious and ultimately more sustainable way to survive?
