All Good Scents: Contemporary Fragrances With An Indian Soul

Fragrances With An Indian Heart

A passion for perfumes led Sheth to enrol at ISIPCA in France, the world’s premier fragrance, flavour and cosmetics institute, to pursue a 3-year course in scent design and creation. An in-depth and immersive programme (Sheth had to learn the local language since the medium of instruction is French), it laid the foundations for a career in the industry.  After 16-17 years working as a perfumer in France, Sheth decided it was time to head back home and modernize the business and build a brand with an Indian heart.

Sheth’s vision is to create “contemporary fragrances, homegrown.” He was quick to pick up on the fact that the Indian market was flooded with imported fragrances from Western and European brands. Sure, they were trendy, they were chic, they were endorsed by Hollywood A-listers, but none of them was developed with the Indian culture or climate in mind.  

Smells and scents are extremely evocative – in fact, our sense of smell is more closely linked with memory than any other. And Sheth makes a conscious effort to keep things as localized as possible. Playing with ingredients like jasmine (mogra) and vetiver (khus) which are intrinsic to our culture and environment, All Good Scents' perfumes evoke memories that are unique to the Indian psyche and pay homage to our roots.

The ethos of All Good Scents (in addition to their localized approach) is to create cruelty-free vegan fragrances. Sheth says that nearly all animal derivatives can be done away with by using natural ingredients and aromatic chemicals to reconstitute the same olfactory notes. And that contrary to perception, natural extracts are both feasible for use and easy to extract.
