Artisanal Vegan Ice Cream Brand 'Nomou' Expands Pan India

Homegrown gourmet brand Nomou's variety of plant-based ice creams are a delight for Indian vegans. Made with a coconut milk base and sweetened with palm sugar, the brand offers a number of flavours, some especially made for the Indian taste buds, such as Paan and Tender Coconut.

This 100% vegan endeavor was started by Samir Pasad and Hemali Gala, the Co-Founders of 'Vegan Bites’. Nomou came into being as a retail brand in 2019 in Mumbai. “It was about 19/20 years back, I had attended a yoga seminar, where we were given a lecture on dairy. Since I was already a vegetarian, after hearing about the talk and about how dairy is bad for the body, it was an overnight decision for me to become a vegan,” says Pasad.

The ice creams have a rich gelato consistency as they are made in gelato machines. Another specialty about Nomou is the use of nuts like almonds and cashews to make the ice creams denser and give them a creamy texture. These ice creams are free of any preservatives and artificial flavours, which is an added benefit to these guilt-free treats.

Nomou offers freshly made luxury vegan ice creams using all-natural ingredients, which are all ethically and sustainably sourced. Some of their most popular flavours are Espresso, Bourbon Vanilla, Sea Salt Caramel, and Choco Almond. They also have seasonal flavours made with fresh fruit which include Fresh Mango and Fresh Strawberry.

The brand recently announced their expansion pan India. They are currently present in Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Goa, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata & Siliguri. Nomou is also available in both branches of the Earth Story convenience store in Chennai and the Plantarium store in Hyderabad. They will soon be available in Bangalore, Delhi, Gurgaon, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh. They are available in all Nature's Basket Stores across Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata and in the Saukhyam store in Goa and Plum - The Gourmet Store in Surat.

Nomou ice creams are also available online through Vvegano, The Eco Trunk, Vegan Dukan, Urban Platter, Get Moksha and Big Basket along with Swiggy & Zomato.
