ASSOCHAM’s first national conference on the plant-based food industry to be held tomorrow

February 7th, 2023 - New Delhi

The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) will host its first national conference on ‘Plant-Based Food: Capturing Avenues To Intensify The Food Processing Industry’ tomorrow in New Delhi. The event will have industry leaders and ministers elucidate how plant-based foods can achieve food system sustainability and nutritional security. It will also throw light on how the plant-based industry has been witnessing a massive boom due to innovation and evolving consumer needs.

The conference will be opened by addresses from Arun Om Lal, Co-Chair, ASSOCHAM’s Council on Food Processing and Value Addition, and Palak Mehta, Founder & CEO of Vegan First, who will set the context for the event and the need for the plant-based industry’s growth. The audience can also look forward to talks by other eminent speakers such as Varun Deshpande, Managing Director of Good Food Institute, Abhishek Sinha, Co-founder & CEO of Good Dot, and Dr Sudhanshu, Secretary of APEDA, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti, Government of India, will be the chief guest for the event.

The conference is scheduled to be held in Hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi, on February 8, 2023,  between 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM. It is being organized by ASSOCHAM, with the support of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. Vegan First is the knowledge partner for the conference, and has issued an industry report ‘The Rising Plant-Based Opportunity in India’, which gives a detailed and in-depth picture of the plant-based industry’s growth.
