Bangalore-Based One Good Launches Plant-Based Milk At 59 Rupees Per Litre To Compete With Cow’s Milk

A lot of people today, are changing their preferred milk to dairy alternatives for ethical grounds. The handling of animals during the production of dairy milk is one issue. There is also a tendency among people to seek vegan milk as they dislike animal goods since they aren't always connected with good animal care. After all, unlike cow's milk, plant-based milk is kind to the animals, our planet, and your body.

There are myriad alternatives right from Soy milk, and peanut milk that is all legume-based to Almond milk, Coconut milk, Hazelnut milk, Pistachio milk, and Walnut milk that are all nut-based among other worthy substitutes. However, the main issue remained that any dairy substitute be it Flax, Hemp, and Sunflower milk that are seed-based or amaranth milk that is pseudo-cereal- based; was more expensive to source than dairy on a daily basis. But fortuitously, all this is about to change as One Good is ditching plastic and premiums to ensure that anyone can enjoy the benefits of plant-based food.

The company announced that their patrons can expect the same mylk they know and love, now fortified with the same amount of calcium as cow's milk without it costing more than cow's milk. But the most interesting facet remains that the brand claimed to introduce the world’s first-ever plant-based milk alternative priced the same as cow's milk and completely free from packaging. Read on to know more about their product and why the plant-based mylk’s pay parity with dairy matters as much.

Non-dairy milk is more environmentally friendly

The pandemic has significantly increased the sales of plant-based milk, particularly since the early months of the health crisis. It is also widely known that all non-dairy milk is substantially more environmentally friendly than cow's milk. They produce less greenhouse gas emissions and utilize less water and land. Because almond trees store a lot of CO2 as they develop, almond milk has the lowest greenhouse gas emissions of any milk. Yet, One Good has developed a Cashew-oat-millet mylk that consists of ingredients such as filtered water, cashews, barnyard millet, and oats.

There is also sugar and contains 2% or less of Sunflower oil, Dipotassium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, and Gellan gum.

The issue of price parity

Plant-based substitutes have a more expensive structure due to complicated and frequently expensive ingredients, lengthy supply chains, and high advertising expenditures that are even before profit margins are considered. In layman’s terms, you could have to pay more for your coffee run if you are vegan, lactose intolerant, or simply don't eat dairy. This is mainly because oat, soy, almond, and coconut milk are more expensive in most cases. According to Mintec, a company that examines data on food commodity prices,

the retail cost of plant-based milk is nearly twice as much as the cost of dairy milk. The costlier blending and bottling procedures, in addition to the packaging, are to blame for the higher price.

Processes, packaging, and the requirement for ongoing innovation and marketing in the market make plant-based milk more expensive, which made it inaccessible for some vegan consumers in the past. Hence, when the comparison was made, dairy milk is simply too cheaply priced, leaving little room for marketing, R&D, and innovation. However, things are changing for luckily One Good is here to tell the world that they have achieved price parity with cow's milk!

One Good offer you plant-based milk at the same price as dairy

Their fresh mylk is the SAME PRICE as cow's milk at 59/- INR per litre. At that price point, many cow's milk brands are charging more per litre than they are. Moreover, it gets even better, as this mylk will be FREE from packaging, and contain the same calcium levels as cow's milk. And to top it off, they've fortified it to make it nutritionally comparable to cow's milk. For those who are wondering about the shelf life, the company claims that it can be consumed 3 days from the date of delivery. And the storage instructions mention that the product must be refrigerated at all times.

Ease of access they offer

They are launching in an Indiranagar area first, but Their goal is to perfect and scale this ground-breaking initiative to every region in India so that everyone can have access to fresh, healthy mylk. When it comes to packaging, they will either pour mylk into your own vessel, or you can purchase a glass bottle option. For the uninitiated, their plant-based milk can be substituted for dairy milk in smoothies, cereal, baked goods, and even coffee among other things. Furthermore, they aim to hit 500 liters per day before they scale to other areas.

The future is not something that will happen 10 years from now. It starts today—with this wonderful offering by Good One!
