BVeg Foods Launches Plant-Based Hotdogs Across 24Seven Convenience Stores In North India
4th October, 2021
In another milestone for the burgeoning ‘smart protein’ category, 24Seven, India’s first and only twenty-four hours convenience store chain, has announced the launch of ‘Plant Based Hotdogs’, in association with New Delhi based plant based meats manufacturer BVeg Foods. With more than 91 stores spread across Delhi/NCR and Chandigarh, 24Seven is all set to venture into a new category that has taken the world by storm.
The stores have always been focused on providing a means to the young working population with new and more comfortable options that meet their requirements and also those of the modern Indian culture. Going forward with the same philosophy, they have partnered up with BVeg Foods, a company aiming to be a one-stop solution for plant based meats – right from new product development to manufacturing, packaging and labeling – all under one roof. The goal is to provide sustainable and high-quality food to their clients and partners while contributing to reducing environmental pollution and creating a healthy food ecosystem for the future.
“24Seven has always kept up with the latest trends while adhering to its ideals of convenience, health and deliciousness. Continuing on this legacy, we are venturing into an all new product category. You can now find a plant-based hotdog at all 78 stores in Delhi NCR and soon we will also be serving them in the Tri-City area as well. We are confident that this category will show very rapid growth in the near future and 24Seven aim to be the first mover in this huge space. We are looking forward to a long term partnership with BVeg Foods and providing more exciting options in this category.” – Samir Modi, MD, 24Seven
Globally, the sector is growing extremely rapidly, with several companies scaling to billions of dollars in size and even being listed on stock exchanges. Data from the Good Food Institute India, the leading nonprofit advancing the sector, shows that $3.1B was invested in the smart protein sector globally in 2020, up 3x from the year prior as enthusiasm and demand for sustainable and secure protein supply chains deepened during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Varun Deshpande, Managing Director at the Good Food Institute India, said, “The Indian plant-based meat sector is moving into an exciting phase of launches, and BVeg Foods’ partnership with 24Seven is an example of that progress. An expanding grocery and foodservice footprint is key to helping consumers access the meaty dishes they crave, without the guilt of impacting public and planetary health. As we build back from the pandemic, we expect several more of these launches across the country - kudos to 24Seven & BVeg Foods for leading the charge!”
Health is a major focus for the younger generation. They want to satisfy their late night cravings or binge eat without having to face the guilt associated with it. Thus, a healthier alternative is the need of the hour and these plant based hotdogs are geared to provide just that.
With zero cholesterol, zero trans-fat, low carb, and rich in protein, these are definitely a step up from your ordinary sausages!
BVeg Foods is also working on a variety of other product categories such as burger patties, nuggets, kebabs, and many more. Their integrated plant based meat processing facility will be the first of its kind in India. It will be equipped with the latest European high moisture extrusion technology that is capable of creating a variety of different textures such as chicken, lamb, fish, etc. This technology will help them to create a whole new high protein snack category of products with texture and taste that is indistinguishable from conventional meat.
“Our objective at BVeg Foods is to revolutionize the plant based meat category. For the past one year, we have been working towards building strong in-house capabilities to offer the best products to our clients. We are delighted to launch the plant based sausages at the 24Seven stores and are sincerely looking forward to the consumer feedback for them. Soon, we will also be launching several of our other plant based meat creations via various channels.” - Ms. Akanksha Ghai, Co-Founder BVeg Foods.
BVeg Foods will soon be presenting their unique product concepts and end-to-end services at a global platform. They will be exhibiting at the Plant Based World Europe Conference and Expo taking place from 15-16th October at the Business Design Centre, London. BVeg Foods will be the first Indian plant based meats manufacturer exhibiting at a global stage alongside some of the biggest names in the plant based foods industry such as Beyond Meat, Meatless Farms, THIS, Nestle Garden Gourmet, VFC, Quorn and so on.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a wake-up call for many around the world and people have become more conscious about their food and lifestyle choices. By switching to a plant-based product, you have the power to influence what is produced by choosing better for yourself and the environment, which in turn contribute to more sustainable food systems around the world.
BVeg Foods will launch their products through additional channels in coming months beyond this exciting launch, and consumers can expect to see even more on the different dishes and partnerships in the near future.
We wish 24Seven and BVeg Foods all the best for this upcoming endeavor and hope to see many more collaborations in the future!
