Dr. Nandita Shah, Founder SHARAN, Receives Prestigious Award From Delhi Commission Of Women
Dr. Nandita Shah, founder of SHARAN, an organisation that has been propelling people to better health through their initiatives has received an award from the Delhi Commission of Women on Women’s Day.
The International Women’s Day Award 2022 was conferred on Dr. Nandita Shah for her tireless work towards promoting health and wellness through SHARAN for the last 17 years.
SHARAN – SANCTUARY FOR HEALTH AND RECONNECTION TO ANIMALS AND NATURE
Dr. Nandita Shah, a trained homeopath was pushed by a personal medical event to heal herself through a whole food plant-based diet. In 1997 she embarked on a “long and difficult journey” to personal and professional growth. This spurred her to set up SHARAN in 2005 from Auroville where she is currently based.
Through its various programs including personal consultations, 21-day residential health programs, and various online and offline initiatives, SHARAN has been able to help over 1 lakh people all over the world. SHARAN is supported by many doctors, nutritionists, health coaches and volunteers who have helped people positively impact their health and lifestyle without medicines. Many people have been able to reduce their dependence on medications while many have even managed to reverse chronic lifestyle diseases with the help of SHARAN.
ONE WOMAN MANY HATS
Dr.Nandita has been feted for her work many times in the past, the most illustrious one being receiving the prestigious Nari Shakti Puraskaar from the then President, Pranab Mukherjee. She was also recently honoured with the 'Game Changer' Elegant Women Achiever Award by the Rotary Club of Mumbai Elegant.
Dr. Nandita Shah is also the author of the book 'Reversing Diabetes in 21 Days' where she gives readers an insight into how they can successfully manage and even potentially reverse diabetes and other associated illnesses.
She says “I believe that everyone can become vegan if they have the opportunity to make an initial connection. Over the years I have seen people go from cynics to passionate vegan advocates once they had made the switch to a plant-based diet. I think it’s because just one initial shift can help people go beyond denial and justifications to then go onto making the complete connection. Veganism aligns us with our true values, which are compassion and oneness.”
