Emirates Serves Over 20,000 Plant-Based Meals During Veganuary

Frequent flyers' tastes are changing - at least that's the sense we're getting from Emirates. This January, the airline served more than 20,000 plant-based meals across all its classes worldwide. That's a big spike!

They have Veganuary to thank - the worldwide movement encourages people to eat vegan in the month of January, and the airline has seen on-board requests for plant-based meals increase by 40% this month alone.

Emirates has over 170 plant-based recipes in its kitchen to cater to vegan customers, and vegan meals are the third most commonly requested special meal in the economy class segment. Some of their more popular dishes include

• Mushroom ravioli
• Vegetable tagine with couscous
• Sweet potato, lentil and spinach ragout with rice
• Key lime parfait with date and citrus compote
• Chia seed pudding

Sounds good, doesn't it? Vegan meal requests are accommodated as long as the airline receives 24-hour notice. And if you're looking for a cruelty-free meal on your next domestic flight, you'll be happy to know that Air India also has vegan meals - flyers need to choose the code VGML at the time of booking!
