EVO Foods Launched Their Vegan Egg At An Iconic Mumbai Restaurant And It Sold Out In Three Days

Plant-based egg start-up Evo Foods just launched their vegan egg substitute at the iconic Café Mondegar in Colaba, Mumbai.

EVO Foods co-founded by Kartik Dixit and Shraddha Bhanushali have been quietly toiling away to get the perfect plant-based egg substitute ready for the market.

Currently EVO has two products that are in the works. One is the plant-based liquid whole egg substitute that works well for scrambled eggs and omelettes. This product is undergoing the process for scaling up before the launch.

Their second product, the plant-based boiled egg has been launched at the iconic Café Mondegar as part of the menu.

The popular restaurant which has been part of the south Mumbai landscape for close to hundred years is also one of the must dos for tourists visiting Mumbai.

On asking why the EVO team chose Café Mondegar, Shraddha says, “We chose Café Mondegar because it is an iconic destination in Mumbai. For our launch we wanted to be a part of something that was inlayed into the fabric of Mumbai society.”

The EVO whole boiled egg will feature in four dishes on the menu - EVO Chili Garlic, EVO Schezwan, EVO Black Bean and EVO Hot Garlic.

The plant-based boiled egg seems to have been received well. Co-founder Kartik posted an update on his LinkedIn page that read, “A week’s stock gone in 3 days! Thank you so much for the overwhelming response for EVO.”

They also recently did their first international showcase where they presented their plant-based whole boiled egg and liquid egg substitutes to the media, investors, and vegan-curious folks in San Francisco.

On asking them where Mumbai will be able to eat the vegan egg next, they quipped, “For the next location we can only reveal that it will be another iconic destination in the Mumbai food landscape.”
