Greenest Launches Plant-Based Shami Kebabs and Keema In Delhi

The pandemic might have temporarily slowed things down, but it has certainly highlighted the need of the hour; that is more plant based alternatives. The plant based market is growing exponentially post covid and the results are evident from the new launches and innovations taking place. A few years ago Gaurav Sharma, a successful Chartered Accountant took a career turn to create the future of food at Upstablish Food Technologies. Known to formulate “hyper-realistic” meat from plant protein, Upstablish launched plant-based Shami Kebabs this November under the name of Greenest.  Another delicious plant-based launch of keema was quick to follow this Christmas.

Made of soy and chickpea protein, Greenest’s products are natural, cholesterol-free and clean-labelled, i.e. free of GMOs, preservatives and artificial flavours. Many other plant-based protein options are also in the works. 

“Our vision is to become the largest and most comprehensive portfolio of plant-based meats in India and become a 100-crore brand within the next four years,” the CEO Gaurav Sharma told Vegan First.

The Shami Kebabs have five varieties – salt and pepper, Moroccan spices, zesty tandoori, purani dilli, and peri peri. The product has garnered a brilliant response, as Greenest claims to have created a replica of animal meat in terms of taste, texture and mouthfeel.

“We have gained positive traction on the GREENEST™ Shami Kebabs with 30% consumers coming back within the second month. Next in line are the GREENEST™ burger and nuggets,” says Sharma. 

Greenest hopes to bring about a plant-based transformation in the country for the sake of the environment and public health. The Shami Kebabs are available in Delhi through Greenest’s website and will be avaialble Pan-India soon.
