Hyderabad's First Animal Sanctuary Is Now Open
Hyderabad inaugurated it’s first animal sanctuary earlier this week. The brainchild of young animal rights activist Mohammed Zabi Khan, the sanctuary (called A Place To Bark) is located at Miyakhangadda, Shankarpally Road.
The facility will have a clinic and space for caretakers as well. There is also a separate dog shelter within the space, with 34 spacious enclosures. But for Khan, it's more than a shelter - he says it will serve as an awareness and education centre as well. In an interview, 22-year-old Khan said “ This sanctuary is not just for Hyderabad. It will also be a model other cities can replicate.”
Khan has been working diligently for animals for several years through his foundation and other initiatives and has received international recognition for the same. In addition to animal rescues and the new sanctuary, he is focusing on bringing about policy-level changes for the betterment of animals.
