It’s All Good, Men: These Foods Are Great For Your Gut & Grooming

Well, they do say you are what you eat – and for great skin and hair on the outside, you need to be healthy on the inside!

But did you know the same philosophy applies to your skin and hair care products as well? The same things you eat are also great for topical application – when done the right way! Here are 4 foods that are great for your gut, and even better for your skin and hair!

Quinoa

The ancient South American superfood is chock-full of Omega 3s, and also has high levels of Vitamin E and antioxidants, which neutralizes the oxidant effect of free radicals. Plus, the vitamin B in quinoa helps fight age spots – it does this by reducing melanin deposits on the skin. Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) helps combat acne by soothing inflamed, red or rosacea-prone skin.

Try: Phy's The Shield Pollution Protect Face + Beard Wash. The wash has quinoa that does all of the above, while also locking in moisture so that your skin doesn't dry out or get patchy!

White Tea

If you thought green tea had antioxidants, we need to introduce you to white tea – it has the some of the highest levels of antioxidants among all the varieties of teas out there. That's how it makes its way into the Phy formulation, to give you a daily moisturizer that is non-greasy and light. White tea also helps slow down ageing by preventing collagen and elastin breakdown - this keeps your skin young-looking and supple! Lower caffeine levels mean that white tea keeps your skin hydrated.

Try: Phy's Light Combat Daily Moisturizer SPA 45 PA+++

Walnut

Walnuts are known to have healthy fats (Omega 3s) and this helps keep moisture locked in, while plumping up your skin and keeping toxins out! Walnuts also help reduce skin inflammation and fight acne and work as a great exfoliator, gently sloughing off dead skin.

Try: Phy's No Tan, Man After-Sun Face + Body Scrub. The Phy formula helps get rid of the 3Ds - dullness, dead skin and damage, and the walnut helps keep skin smooth and supple.

Ginger

Ginger doesn’t just taste great in a drink, it’s got some pretty amazing hair growth and scalp conditioning properties, too! Ginger stimulates hair follicles to promote growth. It also has scalp soothing and antiseptic properties, helping reduce scalp infections and keeping your scalp hydrated and dandruff-free - that's why it's been combined with argan oil to make a gentle, natural shampoo that you can use every day to keep those pesky flakes at bay!

Try: Phy's No More ‘Ruff Gentle Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

When it comes to skincare and haircare, it’s what’s on the inside that counts – on your plate and in the ingredients list of your product!

Phy uses plant-based natural actives to make good-for-you, cruelty-free and 100% vegan grooming products that are great for your skin. Now that you know which superfoods you need to add to your routine, why not do the smart thing and get your hands on them? Shop Phy’s full range of men’s vegan grooming and skincare products HERE.
