Mumbai's 4th Vegan Restaurant, Earthlings Cafè, Opens In Lokhandwala

Guess what, Mumbaikars and fellow vegans? The Maximum City just got a new vegan café in Andheri – Earthlings!

How It All Began

Earthlings is a labour of love by Sadaa, actress and dedicated activist. After turning vegan in 2014, she found herself looking for ways to do something more – says Sadaa, “You can never rest until you do your bit for the vegan community and animals.” 

Sadaa was looking for ways to contribute, and after eating out at other vegan cafes, she zeroed in on the idea of launching her own. 

She did face hurdles along the way, being from a creative background with no experience in food and hospitality. She had to start from scratch – from sourcing ingredients to scouting for the right location and hiring staff.  But after months of hard work, the café finally launched on Earth Day – serendipitous? We think so!

On The Menu

The menu is a combination of healthy eats and “junk vegan” goodies. Sadaa says she chose to keep it that way to cater to both ends of the spectrum – people looking for a healthy and nutritious meal, as well as sceptics who equate vegan food with raw salad and nothing else.  

Says Sadaa, “I didn’t want to exclude 'junk vegan' food because many people think vegan food is just ghaas-phoos…I wanted to give them the same kind of fast food  options they would get elsewhere.” So at Earthlings, you’ll find burgers with mock chicken patties alongside a healthier sweet potato and roasted peanut patty.

The cafe is open from 11 am to 11 pm in the Lokhandwala neighbourhood.
