Music Maestro AR Rahman vows to consume only vegan food for ten days

Over the years, the vegan movement has seen more and more takers from around the world with people from all walks of life recognizing the importance of a plant-based diet. Now it appears Oscar winning composer A R Rahman has endorsed this benevolent lifestyle as well. The music maestro recently took to his social media handle and tweeted, “Turning vegan for the next ten days.” He added a photo of his latest meal along with the post and it was a plateful of delicious vegan fare such as brown rice, broccoli, and similar veggies.

What prompted the short transition

People have been debating reasons why the Oscar-winning music composer may have chosen to go vegan for a short period. While there are innumerable benefits of a plant-based diet and it also benefits the environment while reducing emissions, it is also to be noted that the composer may have had other reasons which prompted the change. Some Twitter users speculated whether Rahman’s vegan diet was due to the fact that Muharram started since July 30.

Animal welfare organizations laud his move

Ever since Rahman announced his plans to renounce meat for the next few days, animal welfare organizations have lauded his move and commended the music composer for encouraging others to go on a vegan diet even for a short period. “AR Rahman’s decision to turn vegan for even a short while will motivate millions of fans to think about eating plant-based food too,” says Nikunj Sharma, chief executive officer of Mercy For Animals India Foundation. “India has so many plant-based meat options available that I have no doubt that Rahman will not miss the taste of meat if he decides to make this switch permanent,” he adds according to reports.

Many others wished the music composer would continue the vegan lifestyle even after the 10 day experiment would conclude. Rahman who is in Texas, the United States at the moment is about to regale music lovers at the 2022’s North America tour. The musician’s tour is set to complete on August 28 and will take him across lots of venues in North America.
