Nestle Expands Plant-Based Range, Launches Carbon-Neutral Pea Mylk
7 May 2021
The plant-based mylk space is one of the fastest growing sectors in the industry. The market is predicted to grow at a CAGR of 11% in the next six years. Among this, Swedish oat drink brand Oatly has been a key player, with its recent expansion to the lucrative Asian market.
To give the sustainable oat mylk giant a competition, Nestle has launched a new plant-based mylk made with yellow peas under the brand Wunda. This pea mylk will be carbon-neutral, as certified by the Carbon Trust, and have a higher protein content than most plant-based mylks.
Initially set to release in France, the Netherlands, and Portugal within a month, the pea mylk will be available in three flavours – Original, Unsweetened, and Chocolate. It will soon be available globally as well.
Wunda will be expanded further to launch more plant-based products in the future.
Nestle has been rapidly carving a space in the global plant-based scene. One of its most popular plant-based launches in 2021 has been the Vegan KitKat, available in select countries. It has also released ready-to-drink plant-based coffees and beverages, and a plant-based meat brand called Garden Gourmet.
