Plant-based company GoodMylk renames itself to One Good

Bengaluru-based Goodmylk is now called One Good, founder Abhay Rangan announced in a LinkedIn post.

Right from the get-go, Goodmylk focussed on affordability and accessibility and they were able to establish a presence in many cities across India. Founded by Abhay Rangan and his mother Veena in 2018, Goodmylk has grown from a brand that offered only inexpensive peanut-based yogurt to over 10 plant-based alternatives.

THE BEGINNING

In 2016 when Abhay Rangan was at an animal rights campaign event, someone walked up to him and mentioned that vegan alternatives were too highly-priced. This spurred him and his mother to start Veganarke which was the beginning of Goodmylk. Abhay believes that one doesn't need alternatives to be vegan, but it made sense for him to work towards meeting a demand for affordable plant-based products so that people would not have to hesitate when it came to adopting a plant-based diet.

What started off in 2016 in his home kitchen, was able to expand to manufacturing at commercial kitchens to meet the demand after a round of funding they received in 2018. They received subsequent funding in 2021 after rapid growth and were able to further their goals. In 2022 GoodMylk announced they were acquiring plant-based nutrition brand Pro2Fit which expanded their portfolio to offer vegan protein supplements.

THE CHANGE

While ‘Goodmylk’ may have seemed restrictive for them as a name since their product line includes everything from mylks to mayonnaise and cheese, the name change to ‘One Good’ allows for a wider approach. Abhay Rangan announced plans to expand their line of products with the name change.

Having been listed as Forbes 30 under 30 twice, Abhay Rangan has consistently been spearheading for change in the plant-based alternatives sector and has been able to build a brand that has been continuously keeping up to its promises.

Abhay added, “We want to be the most customer-centric plant-based company, ever. You can't find a company like us anywhere else in the world because solving for Indian needs requires an approach that is made in India, for India.”
