ProVeg International Incubator Selects Indian Mock Meat and Seafood Startup ‘Mister Veg’

For its fourth cohort, ProVeg international incubator has selected the Indian mock meat startup Mister Veg. The ProVeg incubator is the world’s first incubator for plant-based and cultured food startups. The purpose of the program is to facilitate a shift in the food system globally, and replace our reliance on animal-derived products with plant-based or cultured alternatives. ProVeg has preciously supported 40 different startups from over 20 countries.

The program is offering a €20,000 grant to each selected startup. They also stand a chance for a seed investment in the future, ranging from €30,000 to €180,000.

Mister Veg offers plant-based mock meats as well as mock seafood made from grains. They have a special technology to produce preservative-free mock meats and ready-to-eat meals. The food has a shelf life of one year wherein which it retains its nutritional value and taste.

Mister Veg is India’s first mock meat brand to produce plant-based seafood. Their products are affordable with a high nutritional value and can be used as direct alternatives to meat products in everyday cooking.

"When we developed the product in April 2019, we started validating the market & planned to do experimental sales without the brand to see acceptance and repeatability for products on the ground level. We got an awesome response from the market, and we now have plans to launch our products officially as a brand," said Singh.

Mister Veg will be launching their products in India in March 2021.

"After that we have plans to expand to other countries while also developing a wider product range using our innovative technology. We are coming forward with exciting new developments and our samples have been approved by some large food business players in the market. Big announcements will be out soon."
