Qatar's International Airport (Doha) Gets Its First Vegan Café

Qatar's international airport, Hamad International Airport in Doha has gotten its first all-vegan café – Evergreen Organics, a jungle theme café serving nutritious and healthy meals to hungry flyers. The Hamad International Airport is a major hub airport and one of the busiest in the world, with 38.78 million passengers in 2019.

In 2016, a vegan engineer Ghanim Al-Sulaiti opened the first location of Evergreen Organics – Qatar's first vegan café, with the mission of providing healthy, plant-based foods to his community. On him branching out to the airport, Al-Sulaiti said “Being able to find vegan food in an airport would be something I would dream about while waiting for a flight.” He recounted his own woes when he said that he had lost count of the number of times his cashew butter jars had been confiscated at the security checkpoints!

The café will be open 24 hours and will serve a variety of cold-pressed juices, breakfast bowls, coconut water inside real coconuts and nutritious meals. This would be a relief for all travellers, worldwide who visit the airport especially during the COVID-19 scare, due to which many people have temporarily switched to flexitarian and plant-based diets. More so, for vegan and/or health-conscious travellers who either board a flight from Doha or have a halt. A growing population is trying plant-based options and the trend is set to only grow, in the years to come.
