Pune Based Saima Bakery Goes Vegan!

Yes, you read that right: there’s a sweet little bakery in Pune that is overhauling its menu to become 100% vegan! Starting this month, Saima Bakery in Viman Nagar will be pure vegan and cruelty-free, serving up delicious treats.

The Baker, And Why She Chose To Go Vegan

Aniss Afshar is the lady behind the counter and in the kitchen at Saima. Inspired by her spiritual master Brahmarishi Mohanji, she chose to practice her beliefs – causing no harm to animals and other living beings, and to save animals from suffering.

After training in Iran and learning how to bake a wide variety of European breads, Aniss came to India and started her business from her home kitchen, taking orders for parties, friends and family. The feedback was more than positive, and she decided to set up shop and cater to more people with her own bakery.

Saima serves both sweet and savoury goodies, so whether you’re feeling peckish, in need of a substantial meal or just looking to indulge your sweet tooth, they’ve got it all! Aniss creates a mix of European and Irani delicacies, from staples like apple pie and potato pie to vegan Iranian sweets like masghati  (a halwa-like sweet made with sugar, saffron, pistachios and almonds).
