Smoothie Bar Chain Drunken Monkey To Include 80% Vegan Options On Their Menu By Next Year

Drunken Monkey, a smoothie bar chain that operates pan-India, has partnered with FIAPO (Federation Of Indian Animal Protection Organisations) to include 80% vegan options on their menu by next year.

Drunken Monkey currently has 78 outlets and plans to ramp up to 150 by year-end. This change will be effective in all outlets by the middle of 2020, according to reports.

Samrat Reddy, CEO, Drunken Monkey, said “Drunken Monkey is glad to be associated with FIAPO in its quest of animal protection and is keen to make a difference. We are excited to announce that starting next year, 80 per cent of Drunken Monkey Menu will have vegan options.”

This initiative is part of FIAPO’s corporate engagement campaign, where they encourage businesses to make the switch to vegan and cruelty-free products. In the past, they’ve partnered with other chains like Menchie’s (frozen yogurt), Fruktville and Bakeshop for the inclusion of more vegan options in their menus.

Varda Mehrotra, Executive Director, FIAPO, said, “Drunken Monkey’s pledge is a landmark win for the vegan movement in India. This win not only positively impacts the farmed animals and the planet, but also sets a tone on where the future of F&B brands in India is headed.”

We’re always happy to see big restaurant and café chains open up to veganism, and hopefully, more brands will take a cue and follow suit!
