When ‘The Game Changers’ documentary first aired, people watched agog as James Wilks journeyed across the world in search of the truth about meat, protein, and strength. The film featured great athletes, special operations warriors, and innovative scientists who are changing the way people eat and live. While the original film showed the extraordinary development of plant-based eating in professional sports, there is to be a sequel to it that will go far beyond the scope of the first movie. Uninterrupted, a brand inside The SpringHill Company founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, is collaborating with the authors of the documentary to produce its sequel.

Interestingly, the first installment of ‘The Game Changers’ was executive produced by industry powerhouses like James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan, Lewis Hamilton, Chris Paul, and Novak Djokovic. With over 100 million viewers, the video is credited with causing a substantial shift in eating habits around the world. Now, read on to know everything we’ve discovered about the sequel:

Directors of the first film are slated to co-direct its sequel

Stephanie Soechtig and Kristin Lazure, the directors behind the first film, are co-directing the sequel. You may know their previous body of work, which included- Fed Up, Knock Down the House, The Devil We Know, and Netflix’s forthcoming Poisoned. The feature documentary will begin production later this summer in collaboration with Soechtig and Lazure's production business, Atlas Films. LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson, and Philip Byron will serve as executive producers for Uninterrupted. Naomi Wright and Matt Rissmiller will co-executive produce.

"GC1 had a profound impact on us as individuals and as filmmakers. We know there’s so much more to unpack, and we couldn’t be more excited to join this team,” said Soechtig and Lazure.

The sequel will explore how food choices affect children's health and food justice

The sequel will investigate how food choices affect not only personal performance and health, but also larger issues such as children's health, food justice, and the health of the planet. In fact, several of the original executive producers are set to return for the sequel, which will have an A-list ensemble of athletes and celebrities confronting difficult food-related themes and presenting riveting stories from multiple continents.

Production heads their insight on the upcoming film

“With The SpringHill Company’s unparalleled track record fusing athlete-led storytelling with progressive subject matter — plus Stephanie and Kristin’s expert ability to weave compelling personal narratives with hard-hitting investigative journalism — we couldn’t be more thrilled about this team,” said James Wilks, producer and star of The Game Changers.

“This as a unique opportunity to expand on the cultural conversation The Game Changers ignited around the fundamental role food can play in addressing some of the most critical issues of our time,” said Philip Byron, Head of Unscripted & Docs at The SpringHill Company. “The SpringHill Company has evolved into a full-service production company, and we are thrilled that James Wilks and Joseph Pace selected us to help craft their highly anticipated sequel and equally excited to work with Stephanie and Kristin on the first of hopefully many projects,” he signed off.
