Ubuntu: Kolkata's First Vegan Community Cafe

Kolkata vegans, rejoice! There’s a new 100% vegan establishment opening up in the City Of Joy, on September 7th, and it is an all-in-one space where you can eat, live and share – and it’s called Ubuntu!

What

Fashioned as the city’s (and perhaps India's!)  first eco-friendly community café, Ubuntu is a space where you can pop in for a meal, stay for a few days, host meetups, and hang out with like-minded people. Ubuntu is called a community café because they believe in engaging with the neighbourhood to develop an eco-friendly conscious locality. Through outreach and dialogue, they connect with other people in the area and encourage them to adopt green living practices.

Ubuntu will launch with Ubuntu Eats, the plant-based cafe, and the other sections of the establishment will roll out a little later.

On The Menu

We can’t leave you without telling you a little bit about the food! You won’t be disappointed. They’ve got something to suit every palate – from healthy “Beet Blush” smoothie bowls to dairy-free dahi wada, burgers and dry fruit kulfis, the menu is filling and healthy.

So the next time you are in the neighbourhood and looking for a meal, a place to stay or host an event, you know where to head!
