Vegan Leather Phone? Check out Oppo Find X2 Pro!

Oppo, the Chinese consumer electronics and mobile communications company launched its latest phone. Oppo Find X2 and X2 Pro in China and Europe launched in March and are going to launch it globally soon.  Find X2 Pro comes in a classy orange vegan leather variant, in addition to a black ceramic option. Another grey vegan leather version is going to be released soon too. The Indian launch is set to happen before the end of April but there have been no confirmations about the availability of these vegan leather variants here. 

The 5G handset with an OLED hole-punch display packs in a 4260 mAh battery and is powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset with 12 GB RAM. It’s quite a feature-heavy, high-end phone and retails for CNY 6999 (~ ?75,000). Interestingly, this is not the first smartphone to offer vegan leather options. Before this, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, launched in late 2019 also offered orange and forest green vegan leather variants.

Additionally, amazon and etsy offer vegan phone cases too. Is vegan leather sustainable? Not always. Natural forms of leather such as pinatex, coconut leather, flower leather are way  more eco friendly than PU leather variants.
