Volvo Set To Launch Vegan Car

After Tesla and Audi, auto giant Volvo is going green with a vegan electric car.

Volvo's electric performance brand Polestar is launching the Polestar 2, a new all-electric five-door fastback that will be competing with the Tesla Model 3. The car promises to be a real showstopper, with:

• All-vegan interiors
• Panoramic glass roof
• Two electric motors
• 78 kWh battery capacity
• The ability to accelerate from zero to 100 kph in five seconds

In a statement, the brand said it is committed to creating eco-friendly solutions to address the world's air quality challenges.  "Everything about it has been designed and engineered with passion and dedication. As an electric performance brand, and through the forthcoming launch of a portfolio of fully electric cars, Polestar is determined to address the world’s air quality challenges. Polestar delivers electric performance cars that are great to own and drive,” says Thomas Ingenlath, CEO, Polestar.

The design is an upgrade from the previous Polestar 1, with a completely vegan interior.

“We decided to bring something different to the segment. Our avant-garde design has evolved from Polestar 1 into an edgier, bolder statement. We have also designed a standard vegan interior with progressive textiles that will appeal to the forward-thinking audience who will subscribe to Polestar 2.”?

The car will be showcased at next month's Geneva Auto show and will hit the market in 2020.
