Wilderfest, Bengaluru's first annual vegan festival is here!
The Summer just got pumped! Bangalore will be hosting it's very first Vegan Festival - Wilderfest, on May 26th & 27th at VR Bengaluru, Whitefield.
Previously, we witnessed the exemplary Vegan festivals in Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, and Delhi enjoy a great deal of success in terms of the reception and reviews. Looks like we might be seeing something similar, if not better at Wilderfest in Bangalore.
Wilderfest '18
Wilderfest's objective is to increase awareness about veganism amongst non-vegans and to also bring together the growing Bengaluru vegan community. Plus, it's an amazing opportunity for brands and young businesses to come together and cater to the growing demand for plant-based products. The co-organisers believe that by encouraging people to adopt a vegan lifestyle, we will be able to work towards creating a green future full of love and compassion!
Wilderfest is being organized by 5 vegans in the city from diverse backgrounds, Namita Satheesh, Shweta Thakur, Anushree Kamath, Teena Bethann, and Rheea Mukherjee.
"We want to bust myths about veganism and support some of the vegan businesses in our city. I am really excited about some of the workshops and screenings we’re going to be offering to the public" says Teena Bethann.
Beat the Summer heat in the Heart of Bangalore
Wilderfest 2018 is supported by Federation of Indian Animals Protection Organisations (FIAPO) and The Pollination Project. It will be held on 26th and 27th May and will host hundreds of vegans and non-vegans alike from Bangalore city and the rest of the country. The fest is being held at VR Bengaluru, Bangalore's upscale shopping, and entertainment destination.
We asked Shweta Thakur about the venue choice. She tells us VR Bengaluru is celebrating their 2 year anniversary at the same time of the fest.
"VR Bengaluru is one of the most popular malls in the city. We feel that having a vegan fest at a mall is a great opportunity to reach out to a larger group of people in an environment that they feel at ease in. They will be more open to hearing about veganism at such a venue since food and lifestyle choices are extremely personal to most of us. At the end of the day, if we have planted a seed of thought in their minds, we would call that a success." says Shweta.
